Sustainability is about making green through going green. It can also mean increased employee and customer satisfaction, enhanced marketing opportunities, and improved public relations. This can be done within the context of businesses, governments, and even nonprofits. Tribes often oversee a wide-variety of operations across all sectors, and as a result, are faced with an abundance of sustainability opportunities. To maximize these opportunities, tribal personnel must first identify them. Once identified, sustainability initiatives must be effectively analyzed and planned. During this session, Tiffany Wolfe and Josh Simmons will provide case-studies on the Rincon Tribe’s and Santa Ynez Chumash’s sustainability efforts, respectively. Josh will also describe methodologies for conducting sustainability assessments and developing strategies to pursue identified opportunities.
